We brought the LOVE to Noosa Junction in February 2025 in collaboration with Noosa Council, and award-winning artist/educator, Sophy Blake from Sophy Blake Art. Our exciting local community arts project, ‘LOVE Junction’ was supported by The Regional Arts Development Fund - a partnership between the Queensland Government and Noosa Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
The project was co-funded by Visit Noosa Junction and we were thrilled to be sharing the love at #everyonesfavouritelocal.
The LOVE Junction project aimed to create activated spaces by using decorated heart shaped works of art created during free school and community workshops led by Sophy Blake to celebrate, respect, and share love of people, of home, of diversity – it’s love in anyone’s language. We were very excited about this project and the opportunity to include our local schools, Lexis English College, Noosa Junction businesses and community.
Sophy Blake developed unique, love inspired, hands-on art workshops delivered to students as an extension, to be delivered to students as an extension to their art curriculum in November 2024.
Prior to the workshop/class, Sophy created a worksheet with background information on the concept to be distributed to students to prepare and help them get the most from the class on the day. Students received all the materials needed to create their heart shaped works of art and messages/symbols of love.
The same workshop was then held at Lexis English College in Noosa Junction, where international students created their messages of love. Some used their native language, others chose to practise their English!
The artwork produced was exhibited in February 2025 in Noosa Junction with a launch and street party in Arcadia Street. Our local Noosa Junction community added their own messages of love at our final free workshop led by Sophy, amidst the vibrant vibe from our bars and restaurants.
Whatever your language, we invited you to join us to add your own message of love to this wonderful collaboration.
What a celebration it was - we enjoyed music, street performers, food, wine, fun and of course, plenty of LOVE.
